You can now automatically ask questions to every new member of your Facebook group to make sure that they’re not a bot, spammer, or troll, trying to get in.
Here’s a step-by-step guide (with images!) on how you can set these questions up for new member requests, inside your own Facebook Group.
Step 1: Go to the Facebook group that you manage and click Manage Group on the left hand navigation.
Note that you need to be on a browser to do this.
Step 2: You’re going to see three little dots, beneath your Facebook Group header image.
Click on these three dots.
Click Edit Group Settings.
Step 3: Scroll down until you see Ask Pending Members Questions.
Click on that button.
Click Add A Question.
You can add up to three questions.
And be sure to save.
You’ll be prompted to update your member approval settings.
I suggest allowing only admins or moderators to approve, but that’s up to you.
You’re going to be taken back to the settings page, where you’ll need to save your updates.
This is what it’s going to look like from a new join’s perspective:
On your end, it will look something like this:
You can see if they’re part of any other groups you manage.
You can also see the answers to their questions, but in this case, they didn’t answer the questions.
You can remind them to answer the questions, or you can approve/decline/block.
This is freakin’ exciting.
